PALOS VERDES, Calif. - The Texas A&M women's golf team closed with a 318 on Wednesday and finished 15th at the Northrup Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club.
No. 2-ranked Arizona State won the title by 18 strokes with an 898 total. No. 9 Wake Forest finished second (916), followed by top-ranked UCLA (917), No. 3 Southern California (919), No. 19 Denver (929), No. 20 Michigan State (937), No. 17 California (944), Florida (948), Baylor (948), No. 10 Pepperdine (950), Ohio State (951), Notre Dame (956), No. 19 Stanford (960), East Carolina (965), A&M (331-323-318=972) and Brigham Young (978).
Arizona State's Juliana Murcia captured individual honors by eight strokes with a one-over-par total of 70-71-73=214.
A&M sophomore Lauren Johnson (83-84-76=243) and junior Ashley Freeman (83-85-75=243) tied for 57th, sophomore Stephanie Smith (88-77-87=252) placed 76th and freshman Kaitlin Hovda (87-85-86=258) finished 78th.
The Aggies return to action at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational March 16-18 in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
