HONOLULU, Hawaii - The No. 25-ranked Texas A&M men's golf team opens its spring season at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate Wednesday through Friday at Leilehua Golf Course.
Joining the Aggies in the 17-team field are host Hawaii, No. 9 Arkansas, No. 20 UNLV, Arizona, Auburn, Brigham Young, Colorado State, Denver, UH-Hilo, New Mexico, Nevada, San Diego, San Jose State, Southern Methodist, UC Santa Barbara and UTEP.
A&M's top three seeds will be senior Bronson Burgoon, sophomore Matt Van Zandt, junior Andrea Pavan or sophomore Nacho Elvira competed on Tuesday to determine the final two spots in the lineup.
"It feels like we have been off for a long time so we are really excited to get back out on the road." A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. "We have looked pretty good in qualifying and I hope that carries over into the tournament. This team has the ability to take it low over here and we have played well here in the past, so we are expecting good things to happen."
A&M was the runner-up last year at 33-under-par, the second-best 54-hole score in school history. Burgoon tied for second individually at 13-under.
The Aggies had a strong fall season, winning two of three events. Ranked No. 5 nationally by Golfweek, Burgoon won the Adams Cup of Newport and led the team with a 70.22 stroke average. Pavan was the runner-up at the Adams Cup.
