COLLEGE STATION - Texas A&M sophomore diver Jaele Patrick (Lilydale, Victoria, Australia) has been named Big 12 Diver of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Patrick was awarded the honor for her winning performances against No. 6 Auburn and Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla., on Feb. 7. She set the A&M school record on the one-meter after posting a score of 320.25 then went on to win the three-meter with a total of 323.05. Patrick moved ahead of the former one-meter school record of 311.32 set by All-American Danielle Guarneri in 2000.
Patrick now owns the school record on both springboards and has won five straight events heading into the championship portion of the season. Patrick's only losses since arriving at A&M in December have been to Olympic silver medalist Anastasia Pozdniakova of Houston and 2007 NCAA champion Jessica Livingston of Texas.
The Big 12 honor is Patrick's second in the last three weeks. Patrick shared the award with Livingston on Jan. 28 after the two divers each earned a win against the other during the A&M-Texas dual meet in College Station on Jan. 23.
