Eight members of the Texas A&M men's swimming and diving team were named to the Academic All-Big 12 team, the conference office announced.
Three Aggies received special recognition for earning perfect 4.0 grade point averages - senior swimmer Brad Raiford (information and operations management major), junior diver Henry Stevens (finance major), and junior swimmer Casey Strange (business).
Also earning first-team Academic All-Big 12 honors, which requires a 3.20 or higher GPA, were junior swimmer Jason Bergstrom (agricultural communications / journalism), senior swimmer Shawn Clarke (civil engineering), senior diver Eric Sehn (geography) and senior swimmer John VanNatta (petroleum engineering).
Earning second-team academic honors (3.00 to 3.19 GPA) was senior swimmer Kyle Holland (sport management).
The Aggies will compete in the 2009 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships Wednesday through Saturday in Columbia, Mo.
