- The Red Raiders lead the series, 63-56, including a 1-0 edge in Big 12 Tournament games. The series is tied, 6-6, in all games played at neutral sites. Tech posted an 80-71 win against A&M in the first round of the 2002 Big 12 tournament in Kansas City.

Key Game Notes
- No. 6-seeded Texas A&M plays No. 11 Texas Tech in Wednesday's first round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament at Oklahoma City's Ford Center. Game time is set for 8:30 p.m. (Big 12 Network).
- The winner of the A&M-Tech game will play No. 3-seeded Missouri on Thursday (8:30 p.m./ESPN2). The winner of that game will advance to Friday's semifinals (8:30 p.m./Big 12 Network). The championship game will be Saturday (5:10 p.m./ESPN).
- A&M has won six straight and is coming off a 96-86 win against No. 12-ranked Missouri at home on Saturday. A&M's winning streak is the longest in the Big 12, and the ninth longest nationally, heading into postseason play. It is the third longest streak by a member of a BCS Conference.
- A&M has won 48 games under Mark Turgeon, the most wins ever by a Big 12 coach in his first two seasons in the league.
- A&M, Kansas and Texas are the only three Big 12 schools to post 20-win seasons in each of the last five years. The Aggies also have recorded at least eight Big 12 wins in five straight seasons. Prior to that stretch, A&M had never won more than six league games.
- The Aggies are 3-12 in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship, but are 3-3 in the last three years. Last year, the Aggies doubled their victory total in the tournament by beating Iowa State (60-47) and Kansas State (63-60) before falling in the semifinals to eventual national champion Kansas (77-71).
- A&M is the No. 6 seed for the second straight year and has been seeded in the top half four straight years. Prior to last season, A&M has never been the No. 6 seed.
- The only previous meeting between A&M and Texas Tech at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship came in Kansas City in 2002. The No. 5-seeded Red Raiders came away with an 80-71 first-round victory over the 12th-seeded Aggies. A&M and Missouri have met twice in the tournament, both in first round games. The No. 6-seeded Tigers posted a 77-62 win against the No. 11 Aggies in Kansas City in 2001. - Nebraska is the only Big 12 team A&M has not played in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship.
- After being the lower seeded team in seven of its first eight Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship appearances, A&M has been the higher-seeded team for its opening tournament game for five straight years -- in 2005 as the No. 7 seed against No. 10 Kansas State, in 2006 as the No. 4 seed against No. 5 Colorado, in 2007 as the No. 2 seed against No. 7 Oklahoma State, in 2008 as the No. 6 seed against No. 11 Iowa State, and this year as the No. 6 seed against No. 11 Texas Tech.
- A&M is 2-2 as the higher seeded team in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship.
- A&M has an all-time record of 19-31 in conference postseason tournaments.

- A&M assistant coach Alvin "Pooh" Williamson is from Beggs, Okla., located just south of Tulsa. He led Beggs HS to two Class 2A state titles before going on to star at Tulsa from 1992-95. Williamson led Tulsa to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 1994 and 1995. He was an assistant at Tulsa from 2001-05 and served as interim head coach in 2004-05.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP, Feb. 21, 2009) - Chinemelu Elonu scored a career-high 21 points and got 12 rebounds to lead Texas A&M past Texas Tech 79-73 on Saturday night.The Aggies trailed only a few times in the second half and never more than two points. Both teams went to the free throw line often but the Aggies had more than twice the attempts (51) as did the Red Raiders (22). There were 56 fouls called in the game. Josh Carter added 20 points for the Aggies (19-8, 5-7 Big 12). Alan Voskuil and John Roberson scored 16 each, and Nick Okorie added 14 to lead the Red Raiders (12-15, 2-10). The loss was the fourth straight for Tech.

COLLEGE STATION (AP, Jan. 28, 2009) -- B.J. Holmes had six 3-pointers and finished with 24 points, both career-highs, to lead Texas A&M to a 79-70 win over Texas Tech on Wednesday night. The win broke a three-game losing streak for the Aggies. The sophomore didn't miss from long-range until his seventh attempt. He hit five 3s in the first half, including three in just more than a minute. His sixth one gave Texas A&M a lead after the Red Raiders' had tied it with about 13 minutes left. The Aggies (16-5, 2-4 Big 12 Conference) didn't trail after that and led by four before Derrick Roland's 3-pointer stretched A&M's lead to 71-64 with just more than three minutes remaining. Texas Tech (11-9, 1-4) was led by Robert Lewandowski and John Roberson, who scored 20 points each.

Missouri Recap
COLLEGE STATION (AP) -- Josh Carter and B.J. Holmes scored 13 points each, and Bryan Davis and Nathan Walkup scored 12 points apiece for Texas A&M (23-8, 9-7 Big 12), which ran off six straight wins to end the regular season. DeMarre Carroll scored 18 points, Zaire Taylor had 17 and Matt Lawrence 16 for Missouri (25-6, 12-4), which finished the regular season with two losses in its last three games. Missouri trailed by 22 points at halftime. The Tigers cut the lead to 88-81 with just under 1 ½ minutes to go but the Aggies sank 6-of-6 free throws in the closing moments to wrap up the win.
Hoops Success
- A&M has posted its fifth straight 20-win season. Before the 2004-05 season, A&M had only six 20-win seasons in its entire history.
- A&M, Kansas and Texas are the only three Big 12 schools that have won at least 20 games in each of the last five years. Only 23 schools in the nation won at least 20 games in each of the previous four seasons.
- A&M is looking for its fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Prior to this streak, A&M had never made consecutive NCAA appearances. Including the 2005 NIT, A&M has advanced to postseason play four straight years.
- A&M is 4-3 NCAA Tournament play in the last three years. Prior to that, A&M was just 3-7 in NCAA Tournament games in its history.
- A&M's three NCAA losses in the last three years were by an average of 1.7 points with each game decided in the final 10 seconds.
- A&M is one of just eight schools that have advanced past the first round of the NCAA Tournament in each of the last three seasons.
- A&M is the only Big 12 school -- and one of just four schools nationally --Â to win at least one postseason game in each of the last four seasons (1 NIT/3 NCAA Tournaments). The others are North Carolina (4 NCAAs), Georgetown (1 NIT/3 NCAAs) and Memphis (1 NIT/3 NCAAs).
Home Court Advantage
- A&M has won 57 of its last 64 home games, including 22 of its last 29 in Big 12 play.
- The Aggies finished 16-2 at home this season, their fifth straight year with at least 16 home victories.
- The Aggies have won 56 straight regular-season non-conference games at Reed Arena, including wins against Arizona, Alabama and LSU. The last loss was to A&M-Corpus Christi on Dec. 13, 2003 (82-80). A&M is 77-9 all-time in non-conference games at Reed (.895).

- Reed Arena is in its 11th season as the home of Texas A&M basketball. The 12,500-seat facility opened in 1998 and was named for Houston veterinarian Chester J. Reed '47 and his wife, Billie Jean, who contributed the nucleus of the assets used to fund the facility.
- The top 14 single-game attendance marks in A&M history (and 18 of the top 20) have been set in the last four years. The top 14 non-conference attendance marks also have been set in the last four seasons.
- A&M averaged 11,013 fans per game in Big 12 play this season.
NBA Presence
- A&M has produced three NBA Draft picks in the last four years. , including first round choices Acie Law IV (2007, Atlanta Hawks) and Antoine Wright (2005, New Jersey Nets). DeAndre Jordan was a second-round pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2008.
- Prior to 2005, A&M had not produced an NBA Draft pick since 1987. A&M's never had more than one active NBA player before now.
- Law, Wright and Jordan have each started in NBA games this season. Through games of March 5, Wright had started in 35 of 45 games this season for the Dallas Mavericks and has a career-high 24 points against Indiana in November. Law has appeared in 47 games for the Hawks, starting once, and scored a career-high 22 points against Clevemand in November. Jordan has played in 39 games for the Clippers, starting 10 times, and scored a career-high 23 points against the Los Angeles Lakers in January. He also posted a 20-rebound game against Golden State and has 6 blocked shots against Minnesota in January.
Making the Grade
- When the NCAA adopted the Academic Progress Rate (APR) as its standard for measuring the academic success of its member schools in 2004, Texas A&M did not meet the minimum score of 925 and lost a scholarship for the 2004-05 season. The program's APR for 2007-08 improved to a perfect score of 1,000.
- All nine Aggies seniors have graduated in the last two seasons and seniors Josh Carter and Bryson Graham are on schedule to graduate this year.
Coach Turgeon
- A former player and assistant coach at Kansas, 44-year-old Mark Turgeon is in his second season at Texas A&M. He cut his coaching teeth at Kansas under legends Larry Brown and Roy Williams.
- Turgeon's 48 wins at A&M are a record by a Big 12 coach in his first two years at a league school. The previous mark was 47 wins by Kansas' Bill Self (2003-05) and Iowa State's Larry Eustachy (1998-00).
- Turgeon led the Aggies to a 25-11 record last year, the third most wins in school history. A&M advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, dropping a close 51-49 decision to No. 1-seed UCLA.
- Turgeon's 25 wins last season were the most by a Big 12 coach in his debut and tied for the most by a first-year coach in the history of any Big 12 school. Tom Penders went 25-9 in his first year at Texas in 1988-89 prior to the Big 12.Â
- Turgeon has led his teams to at least 20 wins in five of the last six seasons (His WSU team won 19 games in 2006-07). His teams have advanced to postseason play five times in the previous six years. His record in the last six years is 136-63 (.683).
