COLUMBIA, Mo. - Texas A&M junior diver Haley Haynes (The Woodlands) placed 14th on the platform on the final day of competition at the Zone D Diving Championships at the Mizzou Aquatic Center in Columbia, Mo.
Haynes earned a score of 210.95 during the five-dive preliminaries, ranking her in 11th place heading into finals. Her second five-dive score of 190.55 combined with her first five-dive score resulted in a 14th-place finish.
With the Zone D Diving Championships now complete, the Aggies have earned an extra athlete to the NCAA Championships. Sophomore Jaele Patrick (Lilydale, Victoria, Australia) earned the No. 5 qualifying position of the 10 available spots to NCAA's, thanks to her third-place finish on the three-meter on Friday. Sophomore Emily Watson (Frisco) ranked No. 13 in the final standings after her ninth-place finish on the one-meter on Saturday while freshman Lorena Lujan (San Antonio) ranked No. 16 in the qualifying order with her 11th-place finish on the three-meter.
As of Sunday, the A&M women's swimming & diving team has 14 athletes who have earned a spot to the NCAA Championships to be held in College Station on March 19-21. The 14 total qualifiers is an A&M record.
