COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M women's tennis team returns to Big 12 Conference action as the 36th-ranked Aggies play host to No. 73 Oklahoma State Friday at 6 p.m. at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Aggies (5-6, 1-1 Big 12) are coming off a 5-2 victory over No. 62 Texas Tech on March 12 at the City of Bryan Tennis Center indoor courts. Big 12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week Elzé Potgieter picked up her team-leading fourth consecutive win at the No. 1 singles position to clinch the winning point against the Lady Raiders. She and doubles partner Sheri Olivier also secured the doubles point for the Aggies with a come-from-behind win at the No. 3 line to improve to 7-2 in dual matches.
Sophomore Morgan Frank, No. 113 in the most recent national singles rankings, leads A&M with a 7-4 singles record in dual matches, all at the No. 2 position.
Oklahoma State (7-6, 1-1 Big 12) is in the midst of a four-match conference road swing. Last weekend, the Cowgirls opened Big 12 play with a 4-3 win at Missouri and a 4-3 loss at Colorado. After their match against A&M, the Cowgirls travel to Austin to take on the Longhorns on Sunday.
A&M holds a 14-9 lead in the all-time series against OSU and has won the last six meetings. Last year, the Aggies blanked the Cowgirls, 7-0, in Stillwater and 4-1 in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championships in College Station. OSU's most recent win against the Aggies was in the finals of the 2003 Big 12 Championships in Kansas City, Mo.
