COLLEGE STATION - The Texas A&M equestrian team rose to No. 2 in the latest edition of the Women's Intercollegiate National Coaches Poll released Tuesday.
The Aggies moved up one spot, switching places with Baylor. A&M earned a 15-5 win over New Mexico State on Mar. 13 for their third straight victory. The Bears have been off for nearly three weeks after dropping an 11-9 home decision to No. 5 Auburn on Mar. 7.
Georgia retained the top spot in the poll, just holding off the Aggies in the coaches' voting. The Bulldogs received 72 points to the Aggies' 70.
South Carolina remained at No. 4 thanks to its string of six straight victories. Auburn traded spots with TCU at the 5/6 slots despite losing road matches to both Kansas State and Oklahoma State on Mar. 13-14. TCU, who hasn't competed since a 10-9 win over Oklahoma State on Mar. 8, fell to sixth.
The last four teams in the poll held their spots from the last poll with Oklahoma State seventh, Fresno State eighth, Kansas State ninth, and New Mexico State tenth.
