Irving - A victory in the 200 meters and running a leg on the winning 4 x 100 relay during the USC Trojan Invitational this past weekend earned Texas A&M senior Chris Dykes the men's Big 12 Athlete of the Week honor.
Dykes won the 200 meters at USC in a time of 21.01 seconds, the top Big 12 time so far in the outdoor season and currently third on the national collegiate list. He also ran the third leg of the Aggies 4 x 100 relay which won in a collegiate leading 39.32 seconds. The other members of the sprint relay included Justin Oliver.
The opening weekend of the outdoor season produced 18 regional qualifying marks for Texas A&M. In addition the Aggies currently have the leading mark in 13 events among the Big 12 Conference list.
