LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas A&M sophomore Nick Fleece was named to the Collegiate Baseball Foundation's National All-Star Lineup for the week of March 23, the organization announced Tuesday.
Fleece picked up two wins and two saves in the Aggies' perfect 4-0 week, one which saw all four games decided by three runs or less. The Fort Worth native picked up the win last Tuesday against UT Arlington, saves on Friday and Sunday against Kansas and the victory on Saturday against the Jayhawks.
On the week, Fleece held opposing hitters to an .053 average (1-for-19), with the only hit being an infield single. He allowed just one of the final 19 batters faced to reach base, a hit batsman on Saturday that was subsequently picked off, and stranded six inherited runners on the week. He entered all four games in the eighth, totaling 6 1/3 innings of shutout relief.
The College Baseball Foundation is an organization dedicated to preserving college baseball history and recognizing standout teams and individuals who have influenced the collegiate game. It is the presenting organization of the Brooks Wallace Award, given this season to the nation's best shortstop.
The 10th-ranked Aggies (19-9, 6-3 Big 12) take a six-game win streak on the road this weekend to Lubbock--home of the CBF--to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders (12-17, 4-5). Game one of the series is set for Friday at 6:35 p.m.
