COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The 23rd-ranked Texas A&M baseball team (21-14) wraps up a five-game road swing Tuesday night when the Aggies head to Reckling Park to face the top-ranked Rice Owls (25-8). First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
A&M has lost five of its last seven entering the game and is coming off a tough series defeat at Kansas State. The Aggies sit in sixth in the Big 12 at 8-7, but are just 1 1/2 games behind league-leading Oklahoma. A&M is hitting .282 as a team with 44 home runs, 205 RBIs and 50 stolen bases, and averages 6.6 runs a game.
The Owls have won 10 of their last 11 and return home after taking two of three at No. 14 East Carolina this past weekend. Rice is hitting .314 on the year with 35 home runs, 222 RBIs and 46 stolen bases, and averages 7.4 runs per contest.
A&M leads the all-time series, 175-92-2, but has lost six straight--including a 2-0 defeat at the Houston College Classic earlier this season. Four of the last six meetings have taken place at Reckling Park in NCAA Super Regional matchups.
