COLLEGE STATION - Jeremy Adams of Madison, Miss., has signed a national letter-of-intent to play college basketball at Texas A&M, Head Coach Mark Turgeon said Wednesday.

A 6-5 guard, Adams is rated as the No. 2 player in Mississippi after averaging 27.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 4.2 steals this season at Madison Central High School. He had three 40-point scoring games and earned all-division, all-metro and all-state honors.

"Jeremy is an outstanding young man who will fit in greatly to what we are trying to do here at Texas A&M," Turgeon said. "He has the ability to score the ball from many areas on the floor and he makes players around him better. His size, strength and skills will allow him to play multiple positions for us."

Adams also was recruited by Arkansas, Virginia, Kentucky, Georgetown, Alabama and Georgia.

"Jeremy will be an outstanding player at the next level," Madison Central Head Coach Jeff Heath said. "You won't find many guards who can do all that he does. The versatility he brings is kind of unique. I know the A&M coaches love his size and strength at that position and his work ethic is unmatched. He was recruited by a lot of big schools and Coach Turgeon and Coach (Bill) Walker did an outstanding job in recruiting him. Jeremy visited A&M when they played Texas and felt very comfortable in that environment. He's looking forward to being there."

Adams joins Naji Hibbert (Baltimore, Md./DeMatha), Khris Middleton (North Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud), Kourtney Roberson (Arcadia, La./Arcadia) and Ray Turner (Houston/Jesse H. Jones) in A&M's 2009 class, which already was ranked among the top 25 nationally by ESPN.

"Jeremy is true shooting guard who can really fill it up," ESPN.com Recruiting Coordinator Reggie Rankin said. "He's had a few 40-point games for Madison Central this season, which doesn't come as a surprise.
He can shoot the 3-pointer, he can come off screens, he can hit mid-range jump shots, he can take smaller defenders to the hoop and he can even post-up in the right scenarios. Bottom line is he's a natural scorer."
