    COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The 23rd-ranked Texas A&M baseball team (22-14, 8-7) opens a 13-game homestand this weekend when the Aggies play host to Nebraska (17-18-1, 4-11) at Olsen Field.

    Games on Friday and Saturday are scheduled for 6:35 p.m., while Sunday's finale will start at 1:05 p.m.

    A&M enters the weekend fresh off a 7-3 win at No. 1 Rice on Tuesday. The Aggies are in sixth place in the Big 12 standings but just 1 1/2 games back of league-leading Oklahoma.

    The Huskers, meanwhile, snapped a nine-game losing streak Tuesday with a win over Iowa in Lincoln. Nebraska is in 10th place in the league standings.

    1999 TEAM REUNION

    Members of Texas A&M's 1999 Big 12 Champion and College World Series baseball team will be honored prior to Saturday's game against Nebraska at Olsen Field as part of their 10-year reunion festivities.

    Fans wishing to welcome the team back to Aggieland are encouraged to arrive prior to a pregame ceremony, scheduled for around 6:15 p.m.

    Among the players scheduled to be in attendance are Chris Fulbright, Sean Heaney, Daylan Holt, Chad Hudson, Dell Lindsey, Greg Porter, Chris Russ, Steve Scarborough, John Scheschuk, Kenny Sundstrom, Steven Truitt and Matt Ward.

    The reunion is the first of three scheduled for the next few weeks. The 1959 SWC Champion team will be honored at the Oklahoma State game on Saturday, April 25, and the legendary '89 squad will be recognized at the game against the Cowboys the following afternoon (April 26).

  • A&M averages 6.6 runs per contest and has totaled 46 home runs, 212 RBIs and 51 stolen bases.

  • Texas A&M ranks eighth in the league in batting average and fourth in ERA.

  • Texas A&M ranks fourth nationally in strikeouts per nine innings (10.2) and 18th nationally in fewest walks per nine innings (2.91).

  • The Aggie pitching staff leads the league in strikeouts (364) and K/BB ratio (3.5)...A&M also ranks third in opponent batting average (.255).

    Nebraska (17-18-1) enters the weekend in 10th place in the Big 12 at 4-11. The Huskers were swept at home in both of their last two league series (Kansas State and Texas).

    Nebraska hits .287 as a team with 30 home runs, 222 RBIs and 26 stolen bases, and averages 6.9 runs per game. The pitching staff sports a 6.42 ERA and a .295 opponent batting average.

    A&M/NEBRASKA TIES

    The Texas A&M coaching staff has strong ties to the Nebraska baseball program...

  • Aggie skipper Rob Childress spent eight seasons in Lincoln as the Huskers' pitching coach...Childress was an assistant under Dave Van Horn from 1998-2002 and associate head coach under current Nebraska head man Mike Anderson for three seasons (2003-05).

  • A&M assistant Jeremy Talbot met Childress as a volunteer coach for the Huskers and Van Horn in 1999.

  • Aggie volunteer assistant and first-base coach Justin Seely played two seasons at Nebraska (2001-02)...he hit .320 in `02, helping the Huskers return to the College World Series...Seely also spent two seasons (2006 & 2007) as a volunteer assistant for Anderson in Lincoln.

    SERIES HISTORY

    Nebraska leads the overall series with the Aggies, 21-19.

    • The teams met only once prior to the formation of the Big 12, a 21-4 win by A&M at Olsen Field in 1989. • Over the course of 40 meetings, the schools are separated by a total of three runs...A&M has outscored Nebraska overall, 226-223. • Last season, the Aggies won the 16-inning opener, but lost the final two games in a Sunday doubleheader...the Huskers rallied from four down in the first game of the twinbill to win, 9-8, then erased a 9-4 deficit in the rubber game to take the series. • The 16-inning game was the longest Big 12 game in Aggie history, and was the final victory in A&M's record-setting 16-game conference win streak in `08. • In the Huskers' last visit to Olsen Field (2007), A&M dropped the first game of the series before bouncing back to win the final two...Luke Anders delivered a walk-off single in an 8-7, series-clinching victory in the Sunday game. • 17 games in the series have been decided by two runs or less. • The Huskers are the only team the Aggies have not beaten at the Big 12 Championship (0-3 all-time).
