COLLEGE STATION, Texas --- Using a scoring system that rewarded big plays, the Texas A&M offense prevailed over the defense, 117-107, in the annual Maroon & White Spring Game presented by Verizon Wireless on Saturday at Kyle Field.

Both sides of the ball produced their share of big plays with 11 offensive players having at least one 10-yard gain and the defense grabbing five takeaways and producing seven quarterback sacks.

"I think the defense should have been winning by a lot at halftime," head coach Bradley Stephens. That part was good."

Fuller, who grabbed 50 catches for 630 yards and a school record nine touchdowns last season, stood above the rest with nine receptions for 147 yards and a touchdown. Fuller's touchdown came on a difficult 30-yard catch from Jerrod Johnson. Senior Jeremy Brown chipped in five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown on a 21-yard pass from Jeff Wood.

Johnson completed 14-of-29 passes for 206 yards to lead the passing attack, while Kevin Westerman combined for 89 yards and a touchdown on 9-of-14 passing.

Redshirt freshman Von Miller got to the quarterback twice, and the Aggie front seven kept pressure on the Aggie passers all day. The Aggies received interceptions from linebackers Von Miller," Sherman said. "He must have scored about 50 points by himself out there. He was in a league of his own out there today. I thought some other guys, like Jordan Pugh, did a nice job as well."

A text message vote by the fans at the game decided that senior Derek Dumas, from Crawford, Texas, will be the Aggies' 12th Man in the season-opener against New Mexico.
