COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M soccer team blanked Marquette, 1-0, in its final spring game on Saturday evening at the Aggie Soccer Stadium.
Junior Cydne Currie scored in the seventh minute from freshman Jennifer Kmezich to give the Aggies its seventh win of the nontraditional season. A&M, who advanced to the Elite Eight in the 2008 NCAA Tournament, remained undefeated with a 7-0-1 record this spring.
"This was a nice way to finish a solid season of development for our players," said head coach G Guerrieri. "Cydne (Currie) scored a courageous goal off of a brilliant early serve from Jen (Kmezich) and then our defending did enough to get the shutout win over a real good NCAA Tournament team."
The Aggies outshot the Golden Eagles 8-3, while saves (1-1) and corner kicks (2-2) were even in the match.
A&M's 11 a.m. game against Stephen F. Austin was cancelled due to inclement weather.
