IRVING, Texas - Texas A&M center fielder Kyle Colligan was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Co-Player of the Week by a select media panel, the league office announced Monday.
Colligan, a senior from Houston, hit two home runs and drove in eight in week that saw the Aggies (28-15) take over first place in the Big 12 with a series win over Oklahoma State. He added a double and five runs scored, drew five walks, slugged at a .923 clip and posted a .579 on-base percentage over the 3-1 week.
Colligan, who appeared in his 200th game on Sunday, hit a long two-run home run in the contest that sparked Texas A&M to a 6-4 win over OSU in the rubber game of the series. Colligan also leads the team in home runs (9) and runs scored (46) in '09 and is hitting .417 over the last two weeks.
The honor is the first of its kind for Colligan, who shared the award with Oklahoma's Bryant Hernandez. He is the third A&M player to be recognized by the league this spring, as Caleb Shofner was named player of the week on Feb. 23 and Nick Fleece earned co-pitcher of the week honors on March 30.
The 15th-ranked Aggies continue their season-long homestand on Tuesday with a regional showdown against No. 15 TCU at Olsen Field. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
