HOUSTON - Track and field action this week will find Aggie throwers in Houston on Wednesday for the J. Fred Duckett Twilight meet hosted by Rice while a pair of distance runners travel to Stanford, Ca., for the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational on the weekend. Meanwhile, the bulk of the A&M squad will be in Austin on Saturday for the Texas Invitational.

This will be the last week of regular season action for the Aggies as they prepare for the Big 12 Championships, which are being held May 15-17 in Lubbock.

Aggie throwers recently competed in Natchitoches, La., this past weekend where Anteneshia Lindsey set a career best in the discus, winning the event with a mark of 168-8. Teammate Deidre Tarver also had a personal best of 155-5 in the discus as runner-up and joined Lindsey as a regional qualifier in the event.

Lindsey and Tarver are part of a group of seven athletes heading to Rice on Wednesday, where field events begin at 2 p.m. with the men's hammer and women's javelin. The women's shot put and men's discus are slated for a 5 p.m. start.

Christina Munoz and Kevin McNab will compete in the 5,000 meters and 3,000-meter steeplechase, respectively, at the Cardinal Invitational on the Stanford campus. Both athletes have attained regional qualifying marks in their events. They will seek to improve their standing on the national collegiate list.

Saturday's Texas Invitational at Myers Stadium in Austin will begin at 11:30 a.m. with field events while running events begin at 4 p.m. This will be A&M's second visit to Myers Stadium after a successful venture during the Texas Relays on the first weekend of April.
