The Texas A&M men's tennis team led the nation in total home attendance for the month of April by attracting 2,805 fans to the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The Mitchell Tennis Center will serve as host of the 2009 NCAA Men's and Women's Tennis Championships May 14-25.

During the stretch run of the Big 12 Conference race in April, the Aggies averaged 561 fans while compiling a 4-1 home record, which included a 4-3 win in the State Farm Lone Star Showdown against No. 14 Texas. A&M had two of the nation's top five largest crowds in the month with 1,089 against Texas Tech and 764 against Baylor. The crowd for the Texas Tech match ranked as the largest in the nation in 2009, while the Baylor crowd ranked No. 7.

In the ITA's overall Attendance Race, the Aggies ranked No. 2 with an average of 455 fans at 10 home matches. The Aggies trailed only SEC Champion Mississippi, who averaged 617 fans per match in 2009. A&M drew a total of 4,548 fans during the 2009 season, which ranked fourth nationally.

The second-seeded Rebels and No. 15-seeded Aggies will face off in the first round of the NCAA Championships on Thursday at 6 p.m.
