COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The 15th-ranked Texas A&M baseball team (33-18) plays its final regular season home game Tuesday evening when the Aggies host Southland Conference champion and 25th-ranked Texas State (37-12). First pitch at Olsen Field is set for 6:35 p.m.
A&M enters the game off a tough series loss to the now Big 12 regular-season champion Texas Longhorns, but has won seven of its last 10 as they take the field Tuesday night. The Aggies are 26-9 at home in '09 and have won four straight mid-week contests.
The Bobcats, meanwhile, swept their way to the SLC crown this weekend by taking all three games against Nicholls State. TSU has won six straight, including a victory at Rice last Tuesday, and 18 of its last 20 overall as it makes the trip to College Station.
A pair of junior right-handers are scheduled to face off in A&M's Clayton Ehlert (4-0, 5.94 ERA) and Texas State's Garret Carruth (4-2, 4.58).
The Aggies lead the all-time series, 35-11, and have won two straight--including a 14-11 win last April at Olsen Field.
Tickets are available at the gate or online at aggieathletics.com. Children 12 and under will be admitted free with a paid adult (limit four kids per adult) for both games as part of the Take Me Out to the Ballgame ticket promotion. Free live video will be available on aggieathletics.com, and fans around the world can also listen free of charge at radioaggieland.com.
After Tuesday's game, Texas A&M will embark on an 11-day road trip that will see the Aggies end the regular season at No. 13 Oklahoma and participate in the 13th-annual Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship, scheduled for May 20-24 at Oklahoma City's AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.
