OKLAHOMA CITY - Texas A&M will be the No. 6 seed for this week's upcoming Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark, the league office announced late Sunday.
The Aggies will open play on Wednesday at 4 p.m. against No. 3-seed Missouri. A&M will have a day off Thursday before returning to action Friday night at 7:30 p.m. against No. 2-seed Oklahoma, and will conclude pool play Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. against No. 7-seed Texas Tech.
Should the Aggies win their pool, they would play in the championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The other four teams competing in the tournament are Texas (No. 1 seed), Kansas State (No. 4), Kansas (No. 5) and Baylor (No. 8).
The eight-team championship will be in a two-division, pool play format for the fourth straight season in 2009. The winner of each bracket will meet in the championship game, with the victor earning the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Championship. Texas is the defending champion.
