COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M sophomore third baseman Caleb Shofner and junior designated hitter Joe Patterson were named to the NCAA Fort Worth Regional All-Tournament Team, it was announced late Sunday.
Shofner hit .583 over the Aggies' three games with a double, two home runs, six RBIs and three runs scored. The Hewitt native's three-run home run in the regional opener against Oregon State pulled the A&M within one run in the ninth inning. He was also perfect in the field defensively at the hot corner over the weekend.
Patterson hit .500 with two home runs, four RBIs and four runs scored over the weekend, playing the opening game in left field and the final two at DH. The Tulsa native delivered perhaps the Aggies' most dramatic home run of the season in A&M's win over Wright State Saturday, as he deposited a two-out, two-run home run to center field in the top of the 11th inning that would lift the team to a 6-4 victory.
Texas A&M finished the '09 campaign at 37-24. The Aggies lose two starters and four seniors off a squad that earned an NCAA tournament berth for the third consecutive season.
