Krajicek and Hoover Successful On Summer Circuit

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M men's tennis All-American Austin Krajicek (Brandon, Fla.) and sophomore Colin Hoover (Victoria, Texas) have enjoyed a successful month of competition on the USTA Futures Pro Circuit and ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit respectively.

Krajicek, a soon-to-be junior competing as an amateur on the pro circuit, reached the singles quarterfinals of the UBS Men's Futures of Pittsburgh with a first-round tournament victory over second-seeded Jean-Yves Aubone, 6-1, 7-6 (4). An All-American out of Florida State, Aubone is currently ranked No. 481 in the world. Krajicek followed it up with a second-round win over fellow top American collegian Michael Venus of LSU in three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. His tournament run fell short with a 6-2, 6-2 loss in the quarterfinals to American Steve Johnson.

Krajicek also reached the finals of the doubles draw in Pittsburgh teaming up with American Rhyne Williams. Third-seeded Haydn Lewis and Dennis Zivkovic defeated the second-seeded tandem, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (3).

Meanwhile, Hoover captured a pair of singles titles on the ITA Summer Circuit with tournaments held at McMurray University and Collin County Community College in the Lone Star State. Second-seeded Hoover defeated third-seeded Hans Hach of Abilene Christian, 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (6), in the finals at the McMurray site. ITA Summer Circuit play continues at UT Arlington on July 18-21 and Texas A&M on July 24-27.
