NORMAN, Okla. - Texas A&M freshman-to-be Cameron Peck defeated Midland's Tommy Sikes 2 and 1 on Wednesday to advance to the second round of the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship at the Jimmie Austin/OU Golf Club.
Peck will play Korea's Jake An on Thursday. The championship match is Saturday with the winner receiving an invitation to compete in the 2010 Masters.
Peck was three down after just seven holes, but won three of the next four to square the match. He won the 16th and 17th holes to close out the victory.
The reigning U.S. Junior champion, Peck advanced to match play after tying for 10th in the 36-hole stroke play competition with rounds of 74-70=144.
