COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M men's tennis All-American Austin Krajicek (Brandon, Fla.) will make his first career appearance in a singles main draw on the ATP Challenger Tour this week.
Krajicek, who is competing as an amateur on the USTA Pro Circuit, knocked off three-straight opponents to earn him a spot in the main draw of the fifth annual Third Bank Tennis Championships to be held through July 26 in Lexington, Ky.
He defeated fellow American Phillip Arndt in the opening round, 7-5, 6-1, and later upset fourth-seeded Rodrigo Grilli of Brazil in the second round, 7-6 (4), 6-2. Krajicek completed his three-round sweep with a 7-5, 6-7 (4), 7-5 victory over former Virginia All-American Treat Huey.
