COLLEGE STATION - Non-conference matchups against Washington and New Mexico, an appearance in the prestigious 76 Classic tournament and 16 home games highlight Texas A&M's 2009-10 men's basketball schedule.
The Aggies will open the regular-season at home against Angelo State (Nov. 13), followed by a road trip to face former Southwest Conference rival SMU in Dallas (Nov. 16). After playing Samford (Nov. 20) at home, the Aggies will travel to Anaheim, Calif., for the 76 Classic, which features teams from eight conferences. A&M will open the tournament against Clemson (Nov. 26) and will play either West Virginia or Long Beach State the following night. Other potential opponents are UCLA, Portland, Butler and Minnesota. The event will be played at the Anaheim Convention Center.
The Aggies play Prairie View A&M (Dec. 2), Akron (Dec. 4) and North Texas (Dec. 7) at home before facing New Mexico on Dec. 12 at the Toyota Center in Houston. This is the second straight year A&M has played at the Toyota Center. Last year, the Aggies beat LSU, 72-61.
After playing The Citadel at home (Dec. 19), A&M plays its final non-conference road game at Washington (Dec. 22) as part of the Big 12/Pac 10 Hardwood Series. Washington is the defending Pac 10 champion.
A&M closes its non-conference schedule at home against against Northwestern State (Jan. 2) and North Dakota (Jan. 5). A&M plays Texas A&M-Commerce in a home exhibition game on Nov. 5.
The Big 12 Conference schedule is highlighted by ESPN "Big Monday" matchup against Kansas on Feb. 15 at Reed Arena. Of A&M's 16 conference games, 10 will be televised nationally by ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU. Five others will be televised regionally on the Big 12 Network. Additional games could also be televised.
A&M opens Big 12 play at home on Jan. 9 against Nebraska, followed by consecutive road games at Kansas State (Jan. 12) and Texas (Jan. 16).
Other home games are Jan. 19 vs. Oklahoma, Jan. 23 vs. Colorado, Jan. 30 vs. Texas Tech, Feb. 6 vs. Baylor, Feb. 27 vs. Texas and March 3 vs. Oklahoma State.
Other road games are Jan. 27 at Oklahoma State, Feb. 3 at Missouri, Feb. 13 at Texas Tech, Feb. 20 at Iowa State, Feb. 24 at Baylor and March 6 at Oklahoma.
The Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Championship will be March 10-13 in Kansas City.
