COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M men's tennis standout Austin Krajicek (Brandon, Fla.) continues to shine on the USTA Pro Circuit as he advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles main draw at the Lewis and Clark Community College USTA Men's Futures Tennis Tournament held in Godfrey, Ill.
The two-time All-American picked up his biggest career victory yet with an upset of third-seeded and No. 414 world-ranked American Michael McClune, 6-3, 6-4, in the round of 16. Krajicek moved past the first round with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over fellow American Jordan Cox, who recently reached the finals of Junior Wimbledon.
Former three-time All-American Conor Pollock (San Antonio, Texas) also advanced past the first round with a 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over fourth-seeded and No. 653-ranked Matej Bocko of Slovakia. Pollock won two-straight matches in the qualifier to earn a spot in the singles main draw.
Giving Back To The Tennis Community...For the fifth consecutive year, Texas A&M head coach Steve Denton has spent his summer coaching and developing junior tennis players from across the Lone Star State. It is a selfless effort by Denton to give back to the sport, the community and the state that he loves the most. He is currently serving as the head coach of the USTA Texas Section Junior Davis Cup Team training on the University of Illinois campus in preparation for the USTA Boys 18's National Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich.
