LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Texas A&M's Andrea Pavan won his first match but lost in the quarterfinals on Friday at the 107th Western Amateur Championship at Conway Farms Golf Club.

Pavan easily defeated Kyle Kopsick of Highland Park, Ill., 3 and 2 in the opening round before falling to Patrick Reed of Augusta, Ga., 2 up.

A&M's Bronson Burgoon dropped his opening match to Nathan Smith of Pittsburgh, Pa., 2 and 1.
