8/12 Interview with Coach Sherman
8/12 Interview with Howard Morrow
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M football team donned shoulder pads for the first time this season during a two-hour workout in sunny and humid conditions on Wednesday morning at the Coolidge Practice Fields.
"We were a little inconsistent today," head coach Mike Sherman said. "When you put the pads on, you'll have guys feeling their way through things, but it wasn't as good as I'd hoped it would be today."
Sherman noted that while the intensity picked up from the first two practice sessions with the team in shoulder pads, it wasn't as big a jump as he had hoped.
"I didn't think (the intensity) picked up enough necessarily," Sherman said. "I think it should have been better than it was. The heat got to us a little bit, and the length of practice got to us little bit. But for the first day in pads, it could have been better."
In attendance at Wednesday's practice were former A&M head coach R.C. Slocum and former All-American defensive end Jacob Green.
The Aggies will spend the rest of the day in meetings and will return to the field on Thursday with practice scheduled for 8:25 a.m. The team will don full pads for the first time on Friday morning.
