COLLEGE STATION--The Texas A&M equestrian team will hold its annual try-out meeting on Sept 29th, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in Burkhart Auditorium located in the northwest corner of Kyle Field.

The Aggie riders hold open tryouts once per year in hopes of finding diamonds in the rough to bolster the stellar national championship history they have put together over the past nine years as a varsity intercollegiate sport at Texas A&M.

The Texas A&M equestrian team usually carries a roster of 50-60 riders with 25-30 competing in either the hunter seat or western disciplines.

The team will be looking for advanced riders that can excel in western horsemanship or reining as well as hunter seat equitation on the flat or hunter seat equitation over fences.

Those interested in trying out for the A&M equestrian team need to be prepared to fill out paperwork regarding their riding and show experience. Proof of insurance and fall class schedules are also mandatory at the Sept 29th meeting. Those trying out must be full-time Texas A&M students enrolled in at least 12 hours of classes.

Riding tryout times will be assigned at the Sept 29th meeting. Riding tryouts will be held at the Brazos County Expo Center, the Aggies' new home competition site in Bryan.  If you need additional information, call Director of Operations Lindsey E. Lawrence at (979) 845-5779.
