COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M soccer player Bri Young was one of just five sophomores to be named to Soccer America's Preseason All-America team.
The defender's is coming off of a stellar freshman season in which she was named to the Soccer America All-Freshman first team and the Soccer Buzz All-America third team and Freshman All-America first team. In addition, she earned two Big 12 postseason awards, all-central region honors and garnered the Soccer Buzz Central Region Freshman of the Year award.
In 2009, Young has already been selected to the Soccer America Preseason All-America second team, the Preseason All-Big 12 team and to the prestigious Missouri Athletic Club's (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List.
Several other Aggies have also earned preseason honors including Kristin Arnold (Preseason All-Big 12, MAC's Hermann Trophy Watch List), Beth West (Preseason All-Big 12) and Kelly Dyer (Preseason All-Big 12).
The A&M soccer team received a No. 7 preseason ranking and has been in the national top 10 every year since 1995.
The Aggies begin their quest toward a national championship on Saturday at 7 p.m. when they host No. 8 USC at the Aggie Soccer Stadium in both teams' regular season opener.
Texas A&M returns nine players that started the 2008 quarterfinal match and welcome back starter - Alyssa Mautz - who missed the postseason because of her participation at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.
