Tulsa, Okla. - Former Texas A&M All-American Bronson Burgoon carded his second straight 73 on Tuesday to advance to match play at the U.S. Amateur Championship at Southern Hills Country Club.
Burgoon tied for 32nd in stroke play competition with a six-over-par total of 73-73=146. Tim Jackson of Gewrmantown, Tenn., was medalist at 68-72=140.
The top 64 players from the field of 311 will begin match play on Wednesday. The tournament concludes on Sunday.
Three current A&M players tied for 88th and did not advance -- junior Bryant Lach of The Woodlands (77-72=149), sophomore Jordan Russell of College Station (70-79=149) and freshman Cameron Peck of Olympia, Wash. (80-69=149).
Peck's 69, which included a 32 on the front nine, matched the second-best round of the day but was not enough to overcome his opening 80 on Monday.
