TULSA, Okla. - Former Texas A&M All-American Bronson Burgoon defeated Joe Juszczyk of Dearborn Heights, Mich., 5 and 4 on Wednesday to advance to the round of 32 at the U.S. Amateur Championship at Southern Hills Country Club.
Burgoon will play Cameron Tringale of Laguna Niguel, Calif. On Thursday at 8:40 a.m. Tringale, a former All-American at Georgia Tech, opened with a 2 up victory against John Peterson of Fort Worth.
Burgoon was 1 down through three holes against Juszczyk, but won seven of the next 11 holes to close out the match.
The tournament continues through Sunday's championship match.
