COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M football team wrapped up fall camp with an early-morning workout in shorts and helmets on Friday at the Coolidge Practice Fields.

"I thought they did a good job today," head coach Mike Sherman said. "We got up early this morning, had a 6:30 practice, and we got a lot of things done. We went without pads to try to get some guys back and put some (other) guys out here who haven't been able to practice. I thought they worked hard, they finished up with a good, hard run, and I was pleased."

Sherman was asked to compare his team at the end of this fall camp versus the squad at this time last year.

"It's hard to say," Sherman said. "It's a totally different chemistry than last year--not to say that last year was bad, but it's just different. We've got a lot of younger kids who don't know what they don't know. It's different from that standpoint, but this team has bonded very well together. The young guys have been accepted and embraced by the older players, and that's been a very positive thing. I feel like it's all-for-all, all-for-one when we come out on the field."

The players will take the rest of the weekend off before starting game-week preparations early Monday. The coaching staff, meanwhile, spent Friday afternoon going over personnel in preparation for the New Mexico game.

"We've done our prep work for New Mexico well in the offseason, and we feel good about where we are there," Sherman said. "They're a new staff, so we will have to do some guesswork without any game tape necessarily. I know they have a great coaching staff and they'll be well-prepared."
