COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M middle blocker Alisia Kastmo has been named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced today.

The 6-4 freshman from Tyler, Texas, hit a blistering .700, posting 14 kills with zero errors in 20 attack attempts to help lead the Aggies to a 3-0 record and the championship title at their own Texas A&M Invitational this past weekend at Reed Arena.

In her first-ever collegiate appearance, Kastmo was 3-for-3 in kills in A&M's season opening sweep against Iona. She also came off the bench and played in two sets in the sweep against Virginia, tallying five kills in seven swings, including the clinching kill in the second set.

In the match against Northern Iowa to determine the tournament champion, Kastmo came off the bench to post six kills in 10 attempts, including crucial kills to clinch both the second and third sets as A&M went on to defeat the Panthers, 3-1.

Overall, Kastmo saw action in seven of 10 sets and averaged 2.29 points and 2.00 kills per set.

Kastmo and the Aggies return to action this weekend as they face Saint Mary's College in Moraga, Calif., Saturday at 9 p.m. (CDT) and then travel to the University of San Francisco to face the Dons Sunday at 7 p.m. (CDT).
