COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M senior outside hitter Mary Batis has been named the National Player of the Week by College Volleyball Update (CVU.com) following her tournament MVP performance over the weekend.

Batis receives the honor for the first time in her career after leading the Aggies to a 3-0 record and the tournament title at the season-opening Texas A&M Invitational this past weekend at Reed Arena.

The San Antonio native posted double figures in kills in every match and led the Aggies with 4.80 kills and 3.60 digs per set and was second on the team with 5.00 points per set. In addition, Batis hit a combined .392 over the three matches, including a career-high .667 hitting percentage in the season opener against Iona with 21 kills and only one error in 30 attempts.

Her 21 kills against Iona led all players and moved her into 10th in the A&M records with 1,147 career kills.

Batis, a preseason All-Big 12 selection, also took match-high honors in digs against both Iona and Virginia with 11 and eight, respectively, and tied for team-high honors with 17 digs against Northern Iowa.

The Aggies hit the road for the first time this season as they face Saint Mary's College in Moraga, Calif., Saturday at 9 p.m. (CDT) and then travel to the University of San Francisco to face the Dons Sunday at 7 p.m. (CDT).
