COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M softball team hosts four games and travels to Spring, Texas, for four contests to complete its eight-game fall schedule, head coach Jo Evans announced Wednesday.

"I'm really excited about our fall practices and games," said Evans. "It'll be fun to see all our new players out on the field. Our team has so much depth this year with eight new players, so there will be tremendous competition at each position. There's a good feel in the club house and I think everyone's looking forward to it."

Individual fall workouts began Tuesday, Sept. 8, while team practices are scheduled to start on Sept. 21.

The first pitch of the fall season is on Oct. 3 when the Aggies travel to the SKGSL College Classic. A&M faces Stephen F. Austin and Texas State on Saturday and Southern Mississippi and UTSA on Sunday (Oct. 4).

Shortly after, on Tuesday, Oct. 6, Texas A&M plays its first home game of the fall season against Blinn.

The following week, the Aggies conclude the season with contests against McClennan on Oct. 13 and a doubleheader with Navarro on Oct. 14.

A&M returns 11 letterwinners from a 2009 squad that appeared in its eighth consecutive NCAA Tournament and finished the season with a 33-22 record. Other highlights of the 2009 season include a series win over No. 10 Arizona, Coach Evans picking up her 800th career victory, a Bailey Schroeder grand slam that powered A&M past Texas in a nationally televised game, and Natalie Villarreal being named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.

The Aggies welcome eight newcomers for the 2009-10 season including Mel Dumezich (Whiting, Ind.), Victoria Lehrnamm (Brenham, Texas), Meagan May (Spring, Texas), Alyssa Murphy (Bellville, Texas), Lauren Schwirtlich (Corpus Christi, Texas), Sydney Shannon (Marlow, Okla.), Missy Siegel (Portland, Texas), and Lindsey Sisk (Murreta, Calif.).
