BRYAN, Texas - Newcomers Julia Boland and Sarah Beth Davis led Texas A&M to a one-shot lead when first-round when play was halted by rain on Friday at Traditions Golf Club.

Play is scheduled to resume Saturday at 7:30 a.m. with the second round slated for a 9.a.m. shotgun start. The final round is Sunday.

A&M (+2) had a narrow one-shot lead over Tulane (+3) when play was suspended. Tulsa (+11) is in third place, 11 strokes off the pace.

"It was a pretty good opening day for us," A&M Coach Trelle McCombs said. "We got off to a great start and had some kids make some birdies in the middle of the round. I like our position going into the weekend."

Boland (-2) leads Davis (-1) and Tulane's Samantha Troyanovich (-1) by one shot in the individual standings.

A graduate student who is the top-ranked amateur in Australia, Boland bogeyed the first hole but bounced back to birdie four of five holes starting on the par-3 5th. She bogeyed the par-4 15th just before play was stopped to drop back to two-under.

"Julia handled herself very well today," McCombs said. "That's the kind of play we were hoping we would be able to get from her. I look for her to come out and continue to play strong tomorrow."

Davis, a true freshman, completed 15 holes without a bogey. Her birdie came on the par-4 seventh.

"I'm not surprised at all by how Sarah Beth played," McCombs said. "She's been striking the ball very well and now it's just a matter of her gaining confidence as she goes."

A&M junior Ashley Freeman (+5) is tied for 18th. Competing as individuals for the Aggies, freshman Kaitlin Hovda (80) is tied for 33rd, junior Lizzy Hovda (82) is tied for 45th.
