COLLEGE STATION, Texas - In preparation for the 2010 season, the Texas A&M softball team takes to the diamond Monday afternoon for a three-hour workout to begin its fall practice schedule.

The Aggies have participated in individual workouts since Sept. 8 and come together as a team for the first time today.

"We look forward to beginning team practices," said head coach Jo Evans. "The fall is an important time for our team each year because it allows us the opportunity to integrate our new players into the program and really start to build the foundation for our team going into the spring season."

This week the Aggies meet for roughly three hours each day beginning at 3:15 p.m. All practices are open to the public.

A&M's eight-game fall slate begins Oct. 3-4 at the SKGSL College Classic in Spring, Texas, and wraps up with a doubleheader against Navarro on Oct. 14.

A&M welcomes eight newcomers and returns 11 letterwinners from a 2009 squad that appeared in its eighth consecutive NCAA Tournament and finished the season with a 33-22 record.
