BEST THREE-GAME OFFENSIVE START -- The national leader in total offense coming into game, the Aggie "O" continued to roll against UAB with 544 total yards, which was A&M's third-straight 500-yard-plus output of the season. The Aggies have now gained 1,723 yards, which far exceeds the previous best three-game offensive start of 1,644 yards by the 1990 squad. After three games, the Aggies are averaging 574.3 total yards, 45.0 points, 244.0 rushing yards and 330.3 passing yards (all school record paces).

PENALTY REVERSAL -- The national leader in penalties per game coming into the UAB game, the Aggies had just 3 flags for 25 penalty yards against the Blazers.

ANOTHER 300/400 FOR JOHNSON -- Already off to the fastest start ever by an A&M quarterback, junior Jerrod Johnson torched UAB for 290 passing yard and 351 yards of total offense. Johnson, who left the game seven seconds in the fourth quarter, became the first Aggie quarterback to rush for three touchdowns and pass for three touchdowns in a game in school history.

DO-IT-ALL TANNEHILL -- After making three catches for 101 yards in the first three quarters and :07 seconds, sophomore Ryan Tannehill entered the game for the first extended quarterback play of his career. He completed his only pass attempt for 8 yards. His 100-yard receiving game was his first of the season and third of his career.

100 YARDS FOR CY-FY -- Sophomore running back Cyrus Gray received the lion's share of carries in Christine Michael's absence and responded with 99 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries.

SENIOR RECEIVERS MAKE PRESENCE FELT-- Much of the early-season acclaim has rightfully gone to the Aggies' freshman receiving corps, but it was a pair of seniors that made most of the noise on Saturday. The fifth-year pair were game's top top pass catchers as far as catches, combining for 10 receptions for 130 yards.

THIRD DOWN EFFICIENCY -- Before leaving one play into the fourth quarter, quarterback Jerrod Johnson led the Aggies to 11 straight successful third-down conversions and 11-of-12 on third down tries overall. For the game, the Aggies converted 14-of-17 third down situations.

FAST FRESHMEN -- Offensive tackle Stephen Barrera became the 16th true freshman to see action this season, which matches the school record originally set by the 1980 Aggie squad. Five members of Mike Sherman' 2009 signing class have earned starts this fall.

FIRSTS:
• It was the first three-rushing touchdown game for junior quarterback Jerrod Johnson. The last Aggie quarterback to rush for three scores in a game was Bucky Richardson against Texas Tech on Oct. 5, 1991 in Lubbock. Like Johnson's, all of Richardson came in the first half.
• Making the first starts of their careers were true freshmen Stephen Barrera (offensive tackle) and Brandal Jackson (wide receiver).
• The field goal miss by UAB's Josh Zahn was the first by an opponent against the Aggies in 2009. Opponents connected on their first five three-point attempts against A&M.
• Junior walkon Jerrod Johnson in the third quarter.
• True freshman Jerrod Johnson.
• Sophomore Bradley Stephens scored his first career touchdown on a 16-yard romp in the third quarter.

MISCELLANEOUS--
• The Aggies have scored a touchdown on their first offensive series of the second half in all three games in 2009. On those drives, the Aggies averaged 10 plays and 77 yards.
• Game captains were senior Kevin Matthews, senior Ryan O'Bryant and sophomore Terrence Frederick +++ Making the first 12th Man start of his career was Caleb Russell, a redshirt freshman running back from Midlothian, Texas.
• Missing the game due to injuries suffered last week were wide receiver Lee Grimes (bruised ribs) and running back Christine Michael (calf strain).
