TULSA, Okla. - Texas A&M sophomore John Lewis (Birmingham, Ala.) fell in the quarterfinals of the prequalifying singles draw at the 2009 D'Novo/ITA Men's All-American Championships held Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Lewis advanced with a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (6) victory over Javier Tori of USC Upstate in the round of 16. He later lost a third-set tiebreaker to 14th-seeded Javier Pulger, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (7).
In other action, junior Kayvon Karimi (Dallas, Texas) lost in the round of 16 to Dmitry Lebedev of Arkansas in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
