CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The No. 19-ranked Texas A&M women's golf team will compete in the 34th annual Tar Heel Invitational starting on Friday at the University of North Carolina's Finley Golf Course.
The 54-hole tournament will continue through Sunday. Live scoring is available online at www.golfstat.com.
The 18-team field includes 10 teams ranked among the top 25 nationally by Golfweek. Joining the Aggies are No. 4 Auburn, No. 6 Denver, No. 10 Michigan State, No. 12 Alabama, No. 13 Duke, No. 20 Florida State, No. 21 Virginia, No. 22 Louisville, No. 25 South Carolina, North Carolina, Kent State, Wake Forest, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, North Carolina State, East Carolina and UNC Wilmington.
Playing for the Aggies will be graduate student Julia Boland, senior Ashley Freeman, junior Sarah Beth Davis and Chloe Garner.
"We are very excited to get back out on the course in competition," A&M Coach Trelle McCombs said. "This type of golf course sets up well for us. We have to keep it in the short grass and many of the approach shots require precision just like at Traditions. We are pretty fired up about this week and I look for us to do well."
The Aggies are coming off an 11th-place finish at the McGuire Invitational Sept. 20 in Albuquerque after opening the season with a victory at their own "Mo"Morial Invitational in Bryan.
