COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 14 Texas A&M soccer team got a big win on the road at Oklahoma State Friday and steps out of conference play for a match against Loyola University Chicago that airs live on the Fox Soccer Channel. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at the Aggie Soccer Complex.
Nora Skelton's goal in the 12th minute gave the Aggies (8-4-1, 3-1-1 Big 12) a 1-0 victory in Stillwater, Okla., and moved the team up two places to second in the Big 12. Junior goalkeepers Kelly Dyer and Kristin Arnold combined for a season-high nine saves in A&M's fifth shutout.
Loyola (3-10-2, 2-2-2 Horizon) fell to Texas, 2-1, Friday despite scoring in the first five minutes of the match. Nikki Staton scored the Ramblers only goal and leads the team alongside Ani Michl with two goals.
Junior Whitney Hooper leads the A&M offense with six goals and 14 points. Junior Rachel Shipley, the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, is second in points (13) with three goals and a team-high seven assists. Sophomore Katie Hamilton adds five goals, while sophomore Bri Young records four goals and three assists.
Texas A&M and Loyola face either other for the first time in program history on Sunday.
