INDIANAPOLIS - Texas A&M will play host to the 2011 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship at Traditions Golf Club, the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee announced Friday.
"We are very excited about hosting the national championship," A&M Coach Trelle McCombs said. "We have great facilities and Traditions is a wonderful championship golf course where the best team will rise to the top. It will be an awesome event that will provide great national exposure for Texas A&M, Traditions and our golf program."
The committee also announced the three regional sites and hosts: University of Notre Dame will host the Central Regional Championship at the Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind.; Stetson University will serve as host of the East Regional Championship at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.; and the University of Washington will host the West Regional Championship at the Washington National Golf Club in Seattle, Wash. All three regionals will be played May 5-7.
The eight lowest scoring teams, as well as the two lowest scoring individuals not on an advancing team, from each of the three regional championships will qualify for the NCAA Championship, which is set for May 17-20, 2011.
Traditions was the site of the 2005 NCAA Women's Central Regional and will be the host course for the 2010 NCAA Men's Southwest Regional in May.
