COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The 2009 Wilson/ITA Texas Regional Men's Tennis Championships were cancelled on Monday due to rain, but tournament play will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Aggies have two players still alive in the singles bracket and two teams in the doubles bracket. Junior All-American and No. 30-ranked Austin Krajicek (Brandon, Fla.) will face No. 25-ranked and third-seeded Raony Carvalho of Texas Tech in tomorrow's quarterfinals, while ninth-seeded junior Jeff Dadamo (Tampa, Fla.) takes on Artem Baradach of SMU. Both singles matches will start at 9 a.m. (CT).
In doubles action, junior Marcus Lunt (San Antonio, Texas) will square off against third-seeded and No. 28-ranked Raony Carvalho and Rafeal Garcia of Texas Tech tomorrow afternoon at approximately 1:30 p.m. (CT) in the doubles semifinals. The fifth-seeded tandem of Dadamo and Krajicek will also vie for a spot in the championship match versus fourth-seeded Ed Corrie and Kellen Damico of rival Texas at 1:30 p.m. (CT).
The quarterfinal and semifinal matches in the singles draw kicks off tomorrow at 9 a.m. (CT) followed by the semifinal and championship matches in the doubles draw at approximately 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. (CT) respectively. The championship match in singles will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. (CT). Due to Monday's inclement weather, all consolation rounds of singles were cancelled.
