SPRING, Texas - The Texas A&M softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday at the SKGSL College Classic before the second day of play was cancelled due to inclement weather. The Aggies fell to Stephen F. Austin, 3-2, and Texas State, 4-1. Their games with Southern Mississippi and UTSA were cancelled.
A&M will now play a doubleheader against Blinn on Tuesday, Oct. 6, and may make up its other cancelled game.
"We got a lot of young players on the diamond Saturday," said head coach Jo Evans. "We have a few things to work out yet, but I feel good about where the team is at this point in the fall."
Freshman Megan May led the Aggie offense, going 3-for-6 with two RBIs and a home run. Her long ball was A&M's only score against Texas State.
Fellow freshman Mel Dumezich went 1-for-3 against SFA and added an RBI.
Junior transfer Rhi Kliesing both saw time in the circle. Sisk fanned three against the Ladyjacks, while Kliesing tallied five K's against the Bobcats.
The Aggies continue their fall competition with a twin bill against Blinn at the Aggie Softball Complex on Tuesday. The first game begins at 5 p.m. and admission is free to the public.
