COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M senior soccer player Emily Peterson was selected as one of 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award and the deadline for fan balloting, which counts for one-third of the total vote, closes on Friday, Nov. 13 at 11:59 p.m.

Peterson is currently in second place in fan voting with 20.5 percent. She trails Army's Elizabeth Betterbed who leads with 28.9 percent of the votes.

Fan balloting is available at http://www.seniorclassaward.com/vote/womens_soccer_2009/ and by texting W9 to 74567. Fans can vote daily for Peterson. These votes are combined with votes from coaches and media to determine the recipient of the award.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award honors the attributes of senior student-athletes in four areas: classroom, community, character and competition.

Peterson is a fifth-year senior who maintains a 3.921 grade point average and is a three-time member of both ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District team and the Academic All-Big 12 first team. Peterson was born without a left arm and has been overcoming obstacles her entire life, none of which stopped her from participating in and excelling at any sport. In her collegiate career, Peterson has helped Texas A&M become a prominent national force, leading the Aggies to three Big 12 Championships, a Sweet Sixteen appearance and two Elite Eight appearances in the NCAA Tournament. She garnered two All-Big 12 awards and was most recently named to the all-tournament team at the Big 12 Tournament.
