COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M women's basketball team continues to gain respect for their 95-77 season-opening victory over No. 6 Duke on Nov. 15 to earn them a No. 8 national ranking in this week's ESPN/USA TODAY Coaches Top 25 Poll released on Tuesday.
The Aggies climbed eight spots from their previous No. 16 ranking in the preseason Coaches Poll released on Nov. 4. It marks the fourth consecutive season in which A&M has been ranked among the top 10 teams in the country. Last year, the Aggies were ranked a program-best No. 3 in both the Coaches and Associated Press Top 25 Polls, preceded by a No. 8 ranking in 2007-08 and a No. 10 ranking in 2006-07.
