College Station - Indoor track and field begins this Saturday for the Texas A&M national championship program with the Reveille Invitational at 4 p.m. in the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

The two-hour Reveille meet, which features competition between the host Aggies along with Baylor, Houston and TCU, will include 10 events per gender.

Action begins on the track with the 60m hurdles, followed by a distance medley relay, 60 meters, 800 meters, 5,000 meters and concludes with the 4 x 400 relay. Field events in the meet include long jump, pole vault, shot put and weight throw for men and women.

Prior to winning a pair of NCAA Outdoor Championships last June, the Aggie program produced a very successful indoor campaign as the Gilliam Indoor Track and McFerrin Athletic Center facilities served as host to Big 12 and NCAA Indoor Championships in its initial year of use.

Texas A&M women won a third consecutive conference indoor title while the Aggie men finished third. Then the A&M women placed second by five points to Tennessee at the NCAA Indoor meet, recording its highest finish ever indoors. Meanwhile, the Aggie men recorded a ninth-place finish, its first top 10 indoor finish since 1990.

The Reveille Invitational is the first of five home meets the Aggies host this season. Following a 16-team Texas A&M Invitational on January 16, the Aggies will host a dual meet with Texas men and women on January 23.

Then A&M will host a pair of challenge meets that pits three conferences against one another in a scored meet. The first Texas A&M Challenge (Jan. 29-30) includes schools from the Big 12 (Texas A&M, Texas Baylor), SEC (Arkansas, Florida, South Carolina) and Pac-10 (Oregon, Stanford, Washington State).

In the second A&M Challenge (Feb. 13) the conferences include Big 12 (Texas A&M, Texas, Texas Tech), SEC (Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee), and Conference USA (Houston, Rice, UTEP).
