TEMPE, Ariz. - Texas A&M closed with a 309 on Sunday and finished 14th at the PING/Arizona State Invitational at the Karsten Golf Course.
No. 5-ranked Oklahoma State captured the title with a 54-hole score of 881, edging No. 12 Purdue (882) by a single stroke.
No. 2 Arizona State (886) placed third, followed by No. 4 Southern California (891), New Mexico (893), No. 1 UCLA (897), Arizona (898), No. 14 Pepperdine (907), No. 20 Denver (910), No. 25 Stanford (917), No. 15 Vanderbilt (917), Tulsa (919), No. 17 California (922), A&M (311-306-309=926), Colorado (931), Central Florida (936) and Oregon (941).
Purdue's Maria Hernandez won individual honors with a five-under total of 72-69-70=211.
A&M sophomore Lauren Johnson (81-72-78=231) tied for 43rd, sophomore Stephanie Smith (74-81-78=233) tied for 55th, junior Ashley Freeman (80-79-80=239) tied for 74th and sophomore Alexa Porter (85-80-81=246) placed 84th.
The Aggies are idle until the Big 12 Championship April 24-26 in Lubbock.
