
Aggie Foursome Takes Fourth at 2009 U.S. Open Championships

The Texas A&M foursome of Jason Bergstrom, Tyler Welch and Casey Strange teamed up to take fourth in the men's 400-meter medley relay to highlight the Aggies' action at the 2009 U.S. Open Championships at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
The foursome featured three of four members of last season's school-record and All-America A&M medley relay and turned in a time of 3:45.12 at the site of the 2008 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. Bergstrom split 58.32 on his backstroke leg, Lavery turned in a 1:02.27 breaststroke leg, Welch posted a fly leg of 54.07 and Strange had a freestyle split of 50.46.
Strange also shined in the 50m freestyle by placing seventh in the Championship final with a time of 22.59. In other action, Melanie Dodds placed 15th in the women's 400m individual medley with a time of 4:53.86, and Welch placed 15th in the men's 100 fly with a time of 54.39.
